This Weeks Ramblings
So, Valentine's Day is once again upon us. Did I mention I have no idea what I'm going to do for The Picky Eater this year? That's right, it's this Monday. I've done several different meals for The Picky Eater in the past few years, but this I don't have a clue what I'm doing. In the past it's been Surf & Turf with filet mignon and seared scallops. That was last year, and The Picky Eater did love it, but I really don't want to repeat myself, at least not this soon. She's being tight lipped and wants me to surprise her. It doesn't help that it falls on Monday this year, so she will have a late day with her patients, so she may not even have the appetite for a big deal. Not sure how I'm going to salvage this one. Wish me luck!
Oh, yes, and Sunday is the Super Bowl. Yes, I'll be watching even though the Bengals are the ones that bumped my Titans out of the playoffs. I would be completely against them, but the last time the Titans made it to the Super Bowl, in 2000, it was the Rams that we lost to (then the St. Louis Rams). So, really, I don't like either team all that much, but I have to root for an underdog and the poor Bengals have been bad for so long I can't hate on them too much. It's also a great time to make some awesome food for the game. There's several recipes on the site that should be perfect for game day from Bangin' Grove Chicken Bites, Croquetas de Cangrejo (crab croquets), and Crabless Cakes (or the ones with the actual crab). Sadly, I haven't gotten my Crawfish Poppers on the site yet and probably won't before the big game, but I promise they will make it on the site before Marde Gras so just give me a wee bit o' time.
Speaking of "a wee bit o' time", next week starts the countdown to St. Patrick's Day. I mean, the site is dedicated to a dog named Patrick Murphy, so expect highlights of some of my classic St. Patrick's Day recipes and see what I come up with for this year's celebration. The Picky Eater is super excited for corned beef season, so stay tuned!
